For sale is a homebrew Ramsey Electronics PA–1 two meter RF power amplifier built from a kit that was available back in the 90s. This is a nonworking unit, the relay switches when I key up but I'm not getting any output from it. I will leave it to someone with the knowledge and equipment to try to fix it. The amplifier was built to put out about 25 W with 2 to 3 W in. It does not include a power supply, you have to hook it up to a separate supply. I used to use a 10 amp supply, a bit of overkill. I see that the instruction/construction manual is readily available online. I used the amplifier with an old HT that I had modified for packet use. This kit was not built by me, I purchased it around 20 years ago off of eBay in its early days. As you can see in the photo, it has a nice homebrew case. This amplifier uses the SD1272 RF power transistor. I'm not sure if it's the transistor that's bad or some other component. I see online that this transistor goes for about $30 these days. In any event, I'm not sure what this is worth, so at this point I'm asking $15 for it plus actual shipping from 54016. It weighs about 2 pounds.

I used it for a long time with a Icom handheld until I got a high powered Icom mobile unit. I also used it as a SSB amp for my 2m transverter (2 watts output) hooked to my Icom 751. Command Technologies Commander VHF-1200 Six Meter KW. VERY clean and well cared for. In my opinion I'd rate it a 9.9 out of 10. Single 3cx800a7. I am second owner. I have had this amp since Dayton 2014 and it has provided flawless performance. The Commander is now excess to my needs so it needs a new home. Yes, you can use digital modes with this amp. Amp reaches full output with barely 50 watts of drive. There is a built in grid current safety trip that will un-key the amp if you apply too much drive. I run this amp on 220vac but it can be configured to run off 120vac (not recommended). A good antenna system should be number one on the list of must haves. After the antenna system, a quality KW amp like this Commander, will give you that extra punch for working some great DX on 6 meters. I prefer local pickup but will discuss shipping. If you are looking for more power and receive sensitivity for your two meter FM or multimode rig, the Mirage B108 two-meter SSB/FM amplifier and preamp might be your answer. As it's name implies, 10 watts in gives you 80 watts out. Plenty of power for DX or for hitting that distant repeater. It runs off a 12- volt power supply (10 to 12 amps) that you would need to already own or purchase. (I will include the power cable, however.) The amp is in good operational and cosmetic condition. (See the photo.) It easily meets the specified power output on FM and SSB. Switching the preamp on makes a significant difference with reception from weaker stations. About the only issue that I've encountered is the the RF sensing relay chatters in SSB mode when I talk. (This does not occur in FM mode.) Despite the relay chatter no one has indicated any issue with my SSB audio. I used this amp regularly to boost the power out from my Kenwood TS-711A all mode two-meter rig both on USB and FM. The TS- 711A has recently been sold, so I have no further need of the Mirage B810. Now it can be yours for $90 firm plus shipping. Just in time for Es season!!! Add another 20 dB to your 6m or 4m signal! I just obtained some surplus (although 'like new' - only used for four years before removed from service) Channel 3 (60-66 MHZ) amplifier modules. I have tested them all and they put out 900-1000w into a dummy load on 6m with around 10w of drive, so should work equally well on 70 MHZ (if you are in Region 1). I have not fiddled with the protection trimmers inside to see how high the power will go beyond the 900-1000w. I also have two 'driver' modules that put out over 500w on 6m with less than 500 mW drive, in the event you have a very low power transverter or transceiver. In addition, I was able to obtain a number of Harris RF output connector cables and special plastic Power Connector blocks (with the built-in BNC power input connector, PTT line, plus the ground and B+ lines). Those will make it easier for those who don't want to do any mechanical alterations to the rear panel of the units. Note that you still will need to add cooling fans, a 48 to 50 VDC power supply, coaxial relays and a low pass filter. This is a 2 meter repeater amplifier. I measured 140 watts out with 35 watts drive at 146 MHz & 12.4 V supply voltage. This is the highest power I could measure with my test equipment. The nominal input spec for this amp is 4-8 watts, but this amplifier has been modified for higher input power by bypassing the input stage (hence the model # change to 1412R written on the label).
