Suryaputhri is a women based drama TV show that came on Kalaignar TV. The serial is a Tamil one that came on between Monday and Thursday in the time slot of 10 PM. The timings for the show got later shifted over to the time slots of 12:30 PM and 9:30 PM.The program got premiered on Indian TV screens on 5th March 2012. It got counted amidst one of the best series to get telecast on the channel and received immense acclaim from fans and critics alike. This popularity helped it extend to over four hundred episodes over a two year period.

The finale for the series got aired on 19th June 2014. The show saw some fine acting from the leading pair ofKuttyPadmini andNizhalgal Ravi. They both played their roles with finesse and put forth some very believable performances. These two got aided by the brilliant acting shown by their supporting cast consisting of renowned like Santhoshi, Lavanya, and Rajkumar. The serial got created by the house of Vaishnavi Media Works Ltd., who have delivered other fan favorites in the past. The show got directed by the talented Tamizh Bharati, who has made a name for himself in the industry with similar ventures in the past. He got assisted byKeerthana as the show’s creative director.

The pleasant and dynamic music for this series has gotten composed by the highly talented Imman. Kutty Padmini is a popular actor in the Tamil movie and television industry. She has however performed in other Telugu as well as Malayalam language ventures as well.She kicked off her career as a child artist the movie Ambala Anjulam that got released in the year of 1959. She was merely three years old at that point if time. Since then she has acted in numerous movies as a child artist and made a dominant name for herself. She rose to fame following her role in the famous movie titled Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum, which released in the year of 1965.

She took up a double role for the movie and got seen alongside the veterans Jaishankar and Jamuna. She also came on screen opposite the inimitable Kamal Haasan in a dance sequence for the movie Maanavan released in the year of 1970. She has since appeared on-screen opposite other stalwarts such as Rajinikanth himself. She went on to establish her production house in the early part of the 2000s.

Synopsis[edit]

The story about a rich, strong-willed and stubborn woman, Akhilandeshwari (Priya Raman) and her elder son's intense love story with Parvathi, a servant maid working in their house as a cook and how issues spiral out of control to affect their relationship. The chemistry between Parvathi (Shabana Shajahan) and Adhitya (Karthik Raj) would be a unique one and stand out from other serials. And also his brother Arun (VJ Kadir) and his wife Aishwariya (Ice) (Janani Ashok kumar) supported them. Their marriage would be the plot of the story and how the pair faces various turmoils occurring in the form of Vanaja (Lakshmi) and her cronies forms the rest of the story.

  • The elder son of Akhilandeshwari and Purushortaman. He is a calm, intelligent and serious individual who is in love with Parvathi and eventually marries her, without his mother Akhilandeshwari's knowledge.

  • A young village girl, who is employed by Akhilandeshwari as her home cook. She is dutiful,beautiful and naive but is also strong willed and determined at times.She saved Akhilandeshwari's family many times in many ways. She is also in love with Adithya whom she marries later.
• Priya Raman as 'Aadhikadavur' Akhilandeshwari:^[2]
  • A rich, strong willed and stubborn woman, Akhilandeshwari is one who expects perfection in everything. She is the mother of Adithya and Arun, and the wife of Purushortaman. She is the de facto head of the house. She is unaware of her son's love and eventual marriage to Parvathy. Although stubborn, she can be caring at times and is good at heart.

• Narasimha Raju as Sundaram:
  • Parvathy and Ganesh's father who is employed as the faithful driver of Akhilandeshwari's family who is working there for more than 25 years. He is loyal to Akhilandeshwari for her kindness and is unaware of his daughter's love.
• Sanjay Kumar Asrani as Purushothaman:
  • Akhilandeshwari's husband. He is calm and patient, unlike his wife. He approves of Adithya's marriage to Parvathy and hides the fact from his wife.
• Janani Ashok Kumar as Aishwarya Arun
  • Arun's wife. She is a weak-minded woman; initially hostile to Parvathy before her marriage to Arun, then starts caring for and empathizing her. She again switches sides due to Vanaja's interference.
• VJ Kathir as Arun:
  • The enthusiastic younger son of Akhilandeshwari and Purushotaman. He is a lively man who is in support of his brother's love.At initial stage Arun was a playboy but, Arun is married to Aishwarya, whom he despised initially.
• 'Ooru Vambu' Lakshmi as Vanaja (Main Antagonist)
  • She is co-Sister of the akilandeshwari. She is evil, cunning and always crafts plans to split the family and ruin Parvathy's reputation.
• Saif Ali Khan as Shyam:
  • Adithya's loyal and best friend. Adithya shares his feelings only with him and Arun.
• Dhashwanth as Ganesh:
  • Parvathy's brother who helps her sister in her love. He keeps her love secret from their father.
• Jennifer as Uma:
  • Vanaja's simpleton niece who doesn't 'think before she leaps.' She is also a blabbermouth.
• 'Valli' Mounika as Nandhini (Antagonist)
  • Adithya's ex-fiancée. Nandini is a crafty woman who seeks to revenge on Akhilandeshwari's family for humiliating her. She joins hands with Vanaja and also Mithra's sister .she is daughter of akila's father way brother popularly known as Nagapuri Vamsam
• Bharatha Naidu as Mithra (Antagonist)
  • Nandini's sister who is the current fiancée of Adithya. Like her sister, she also seeks revenge on Akhilandeshwari's family, albeit secretly. She is the nemesis of Parvathy and nandini's sister
• VJ Lekha as Sindhu:
  • Akhilandeshwari's Personal Assistant (PA) and Shyam's love interest.

New actress Shabana was Selected to Portray the lead role (Heroine) as Parvathi. Office serial Fame Karthik Raj landed in lead role (Hero) as Adhitya in the Show. This is his comeback serial, after 2 years.Tamil Film actress and film producer Priya Raman was selected as one of the leads as Akhilandeshwari. Vj Kathir of Dance Jodi Dance was selected for supporting role as Arun. Narasimha Raju, and Dhandayuthapani was selected for a supporting role. Janani Ashok Kumar (Mapilai Fame) was selected to play Aishwarya, an important character in the story. Dhashwanth (Kalvi, kuttiz, Parameshwari Vanthal, unaka enakaa Serial Fame),Best child artist was selected to play Ganesh (shabana's brother), this charaecter was played by Sanjay, now replaced by Dhashwanth
